At a relaxed and entertaining ceremony at the Eatgate Theatre on 7th May, Rowan Tree Theatre Company presented readings of excerpts from 4 shortlisted plays in the recent playwriting competition.

The four shortlisted plays were:

The Gap by Oliver Eade

Sins of the Fathers by Tom Murray

The Ferryman by Marie Claire Dibbern

Learning to Fly by Jeanette Walkingshaw

The excerpts were read by Gerda Stevenson, Michael McKenzie, Matthew Burgess and Kate Moss Jones.

Judges Judy Steel, Michael McKenzie and Julie Ellen had the unenviable task of choosing a winner from the high quality of entries received, but finally the result was announced as a tie, the winners being Tom Murray and Jeanette Walkingshaw, who each received a cheque for £750.

Rowan Tree Theatre Company would like to thank all entrants for their scripts; they were much enjoyed.
