At 21 years old, we’re looking forward to a new stage of development for Rowan Tree, and we’re hoping to find new writers who will be a part of this. 

Is there a story, a character, and issue whom you feel would make good theatre?  If so, why don’t you send in an entry to our first playWRIGHTing competition?  
 

COMPETITION PARAMETERS 

    1)  The play should be not less than 45 minutes and not more than 1 hour 30 minutes in length. 

    2) The play should be for not more than 3 performers, who can be actors or musicians 

    3) We would be looking for first drafts rather than finished plays 

    4) Entrants must be based in the Scottish Borders of Dumfries and Galloway 

    5) Entrants may be either new or established writers 

    6) As well as money prizes, selected plays will be developed with an experienced director, in association with the Playwrights’ Studio with a view to “rehearsed reading/work-in-progress” performances at Bowhill Theatre and at a venue in Dumfries and Galloway; with the possibility of full productions later.
